The Museums of the City of Linz have consistently taken data security and the protection of personal data very seriously and set great store by the observance of the relevant legal provisions. What follows below shows the principles that we are following in this process. 


Principles of Data Protection and Data Security


The Museums of the City of Linz explicitly accept and respect their visitors’ free and independent decisions with regard to their data.
The Museums of the City of Linz collect and process personal data only on the basis of relevant legal grounds (e.g. contractual performance, public interest, granting consent) and only to the extent required for this specific purpose. Personal data are stored only as long as is required for this purpose.
The Museums of the City of Linz treat your personal data confidentially and in full compliance with existing data protection regulations (especially the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Amendment Act 2018 (DSG 2018) and this declaration of data protection.

Analytics service Matomo

For the analysis of our internet presence we use the analysis service Matomo. This is an open source software tool that we use to analyze and improve our Internet presence. Matomo sets a cookie on your computer and collects, among other things, data about the website from which you came to our website (referrer), the subpages you visit and the duration of your visit to a subpage. These log files are only stored on our server and are not passed on.

    Use of Cookies

    Our website makes use of cookies in order to be able to recognize visitors as they surf our pages. Settings such as the selection of the high contrast option or certain font sizes can thereby be retained across different pages. No sensitive information is stored in the cookies. The cookies are transmitted only to the server that supplies them and they are deleted when the browser is shut down.

    Your Rights

    You are entitled to information, correction, deletion, limitation, data portability, cancellation and objection. Should you come to the conclusion that the processing of your data infringes in any way the right to data privacy or that your entitlement to data protection has in any way been violated, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with the regulatory authority. In Austria the competent authority is the Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde) (www​.dsb​.gv​.at).
