Barrier free access

Das Nordico aims to make a visit to the museum as simple and enjoyable an experience as possible for people with special needs. In addition to basic information about barrier free accessibility you will find details here of programmes on offer from the museum’s art education department for people with special needs.


Concessionary tickets (€ 3) for people with special needs.

Free admission for required accompanying persons.

The EC terminals for cashless payments are wheelchair accessible.

Accessibility

Parking

Public handicapped parking spaces are located at Dametzstraße 13 (right next to the Nordico forecourt at the corner of Pochestraße), right across from Nordico, in front of the house Dametzstraße 12 (Shop Team 7) and one block further in front of the house Dametzstraße 27.

Main entrance and exhibition venues

Level access through the main entrance (passage width 90 cm). The entrance door opens automatically to the outside by means of motion detectors. All rooms of the museum are barrier-free accessible. A barrier-free passenger lift (door width 110 cm) leads to the two upper floors.

Toilets

The disabled WC is located on the first floor of the museum (door width 85 cm). There is no gender-specific separation, the disabled WC is identical to the men’s toilet.

Wheelchair loan service and seating

A wheelchair may be loaned from the ticket desk on the ground floor. There is some seating in the exhibition rooms.

Shop

The Museum Shop is located on the ground floor, where it forms part of the entrance lobby.

Café, Restaurant

The restaurant, located at ground level, can be reached separately from the outside as well as via the museum store. The museum’s disabled WC is located in the immediate vicinity of the restaurant.

Programs

for visitors with impaired hearing

Guided tours with sign language interpreter using Austrian Sign Language (Österreichischer Gebärdensprache, ÖGS) are regularly announced in advance. Booked tours on desired dates are only possible with self-organized and financed sign language interpreters.
Cost: € 3 per person incl. admission.


for visitors with impaired eyesight

Guide dogs are allowed on the premises. Magnifying glasses are available on loan at the ticket desk.

Guided tours are available on request. Cost: € 3 per person including admission.
