GRIEFYARDS 2026 Linz
As part of the exhibition Death Positive. Because Dying Happens, the Nordico is collaborating with the international art and writing initiative GRIEFYARDS. The participatory project invites people to write anonymous letters to deceased relatives or loved ones as a personal form of remembrance, grief, and connection.
For this purpose, mailboxes will be installed throughout the city of Linz in August 2026. The collected letters will be gathered in September and October and will subsequently serve as the basis for artistic works: selected artists will each develop an artwork in response to one of the letters. The resulting works will be presented in the exhibition Death Positive. Because Dying Happens from 26 November 2026 onward and will also be available for purchase there.
GRIEFYARDS
GRIEFYARDS is an art and writing initiative that creates space for grief, love, and remembrance. The project aims to make grief visible and to open up conversations about loss, not only about what is missing, but also about what remains: love, connection, and memory.
Following its first edition in Vienna, GRIEFYARDS is now being developed in Linz together with local partners.
Open Call for Artists
